Reduction in
emissions of greenhouse gases has become an
important challenge of environmental strategies in a many
countries, especially after the Earth Summit in Rio (1992) and
the adoption of the UN Framework Convention on Climate
Change.
It is expected that energy production will continue to
contribute to the problem of climate change and other aspects of
environmental degradation. Therefore research, development,
demonstration and deployment of different kinds of clean energy
sources are very important and are
supported by many organizations, governments
and companies all over the world.

To present and discuss problems and solutions in developing
sustainable energy systems in the Mediterranean region and
the Middle East with an emphasis on climate change and the
environment, clean energy production and use and practical
cost-effective solutions.
Scope
- The
conference will address development of energy systems,
particularly in the Mediterranean region. The conference will also
highlight problems related to climate change and the environment
and energy, energy supply and financing of energy systems,
considering both the supply and demand sides.
- The
conference is aimed at bringing together government experts,
representatives of international organizations, the private
sector, and researchers and students at undergraduate and higher
levels, in particular from the Mediterranean region and the Middle
East.
